Support the Belgian School at Athens

Welcome »

Welcome to the site of the Belgian School at Athens. We are primarily engaged in archaeological research in Greece, including excavation, survey, material studies, publication, presentation and preservation of our findings. Our main projects consist in the archaeological excavations at Thorikos in Lavrion Attikis and at Sissi (community of Vrachasi) Lasithiou on Crete.

Apart from these projects, we host a library with a large number of Belgian publications on Greek archaeology, we organise conferences and colloquia, and we hope in a near future to enlarge our activities.

Through this website we aim to reach everyone involved or interested, Belgians with an interest in Greek archaeology, Greeks interested in what Belgian archaeologists do in Greece, a lecture calendar of Belgian academics, guidelines on excavation and research permits, Belgian academic institutions involved in research on Greek soil and heritage.

The director

Steven Soetens
